IPL 2021 | Players Registered & Latest Confirmed Schedule

As the excitement is over the stadiums for IPL cricket lovers, the registration window closed on February 14, 2021. Over 1000 players have registered, to be exact it was 1097 players including S Sreesanth Glenn Maxwell, etc. From this 814 players are Indian, 283 Overseas. Maximum overseas players came from West Indies (56) followed by Australia which has 42, and 1 player from the Netherlands.

If we come to the base price, a total of 11 players have registered at the highest base price of INR 2 Crore, straight from the reports of ESPNCricinfo, the players who themselves registered in the base price of 2 crore bracket are- Jason Roy, Coin Ingram, Sam Billings, Moeen Ali, Harbhajan Singh, Kedhar Jadhav, Shakib Al Hasan, Liam Plunkett, Steve Smith, Mark Wood, and Glenn Maxwell.

Other Prominent Names Who Registered 

S Sreesanth is going to make a comeback after his ban, after fighting a battle from spot-fixing controversy the seamer is set and registered himself at the base price of INR 75 lakhs. 

Arjun Tendulkar, son of star player Sachin Tendulkar also registered his name at the base price of INR 20 lakhs, he made his debut by playing for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2021. 

Other than that David Malan, ICC no.1 player in T20 batsman rankings, has placed himself at INR 1.5 lakhs- the same bracket also include players- Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jhye Richardson, Tom Curran, Alex Hales, David Willey, Alex Carey, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Time & Schedules of IPL 2021

The 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to start taking place in April preferably after the conclusion of the Women’s one-day tournament and the Vijay Hazare Trowell. It is said to start in the second week of April (most probably April 11) and conclude in the first week of June, on either June 5 or June 6.

The Main Auctions are to be held in Chennai from 3 PM onwards after the completion of the first two tests. The Auction lists comprise the list that incorporates  The released player list that came out on January 20, 2021. Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch were among the most talked and influential players on this list. 207 capped, 863 uncappedand 27 Associate players.

“The final decision will be taken by IPL GC but 11th April is the tentative date to start IPL 2021. The series against England finishes in March and players will get a good break with 11th April start for IPL 14th,” the BCCI official was quoted as saying to TOI.

BCCI treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal said that the cricket board is confident that the IPL 2021 will take place in India, unlike the last season which took place in UAE, due to the Coviid 19. Also mentioning the fact that the UAE is less likely to host this year because the cases of COVID-19 are currently spiking there. 

“India is probably safer than UAE at this point. Hopefully, the situation remains stable and keeps improving and we will have it here,” said Dhumal.

These stadiums have a higher chance of being designated for the IPL extravaganza- Maharashtra Cricket Association, Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, DY Patil Stadium, Reliance Cricket Stadium. The Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahemdabad could also be earmarked as one of the venues and may most likely host the knockout games of the tournament.
