List Of Players Who Have Played And Coached The Same IPL Team

Indian Premier League is the worldwide global platform that brings great players to meet at the same place. Each squad is backed up by legendary former players and what’s interesting is the fact that many of them belong to international lands.

From New Zealands’ hitter Stephen Fleming to Australian star Ricky Pointing, here are some of the brilliant players who have played and chose to coach the same IPL teams.

1. Stephen Fleming 

Recently celebrated his birthday on April 2, Coach Stephen Fleming of Chennai Super Kings was a part of the yellow brigade in the 2008 and 2009 IPL season. The New Zealand legend was then selected as a coach for CSK in the year 2009. He has played a total of 10 matches and has scored 196 runs. 

Since then Stephen Fleming continues his partnership with the MS Dhoni-led Chennai team and has been showing consistent performances so far. 

2. Ricky Pointing 

Former Australian Ricky Ponting is associated as the head coach of two teams namely Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. He has played 17 matches and has scored 401 Runs. He played for MI in the 2013th IPL edition, after seeing his brilliant mind on the field they appointed him as a head coach. 

He joined Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2018 as a head coach.

3. Brandon McCullum

Former KKR Opener Brandon McCullum is the head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders. In 109 matches, McCullum scored between 2008 and 2018 and scored 2880 runs.

However, he has played for RCB, Kochi Tuskers, Gujarat Lions, and CSK in between. When he decided to step down in the year 2020, the smasher selected the team he played for initially which is Kolkata Knight Riders. 

4. Daniel Vettori

The New Zealand veteran Daniel Vettori played for RCB and Delhi Capitals. He has 34 IPL games in his bag studded with 28 wickets and the best economy rate of 6.79. 

He then took over as the coach of the RCB franchise from the year 2014 to the 2018 edition. Vettori also took the team-RCB to the finals in 2016.

5. Jacques Kallis

The South African allrounder has also represented two teams in his IPL career, RCB, and KKR. He has played a total of 98 matches and scored 2427 Runs and picked up 65 wickets. 

The player retired in the year 2014, and was appointed head coach of KKR, and served them until 2019 IPL.
