IPL 2021 Postponed Indefinitely: BCCI to Ensure Safe Passage to Australian Players


The postponed IPL 2021 has left Australian players and staff in a fix as they can't go back to their nation because of the travel ban which was enforced by the Australian government.

Australian players trapped at the postponed Indian Premier League (IPL) will have to stay back either in India or travel to a third country likely the Maldives, as Cricket Australia and Australian Cricketers' Association have cleared the clouds that they would not seek any privilege to their national government's norms.

The Australian government has put a ban on travel from India till May 15, leaving around 9,000 Australians, including cricketers and former cricketers in IPL, deserted in the country that is rocked by the pandemic with the highest fresh Covid-19 cases on a daily basis.

Australian Government has paused travel from India and will not make provision for IPL participants.

"CA and the ACA supported the decision of the BCCI to indefinitely postpone the 2021 IPL with immediate effect for the safety and wellbeing of all participants.
